In the mid-1960s, endurance racing was nothing short of an arms race. Ferrari and Ford waged their legendary battle for dominance at Le Mans, producing some of the most beautiful and brutal sports cars ever built. Among them, the Ferrari 330 P4 stands as one of Maranello’s finest creations.

Unveiled in 1966, the P4 was Ferrari’s ultimate evolution of its mid-engine prototype racers. Ferrari entered it in the most prestigious races of the era, and it quickly earned its reputation on track. At Le Mans 1966, Ferrari found itself facing the might of Ford’s GT40s, machines that ultimately ended the Italian marque’s dominance at the Sarthe. Still, the 330 P4 proved itself a worthy opponent, carrying the fight into the night.

The following season, Ferrari achieved a moment of revenge. At the 1967 Daytona 24 Hours, the 330 P4 secured a stunning 1-2-3 finish, a symbolic answer to Ford’s previous triumph at Le Mans. The image of three scarlet Ferraris crossing the line in formation remains one of the most iconic moments in sports car history.
